Thank you, EV, for this cogent review of an extremely not cogent EO.

Sending what warmth and comfort are mine to send to everyone reading this who's queer or questioning, and to everyone who loves someone who's queer or questioning, and really to everyone who's gearing up to make a stand against the malicious nonsense this administration will be pushing in the coming months.

I have to push back on one detail: This is not "stupid." It is conscious and intentional, part of an on-going assault on modernity. It is in the truest sense reactionary, pushing a return to a previous time when straight male supremacy was not only the unspoken social standard, it was enforced by law.

Perhaps they even know just how scientifically bogus their claims are. Perhaps they don't. The important point is, they don't give a damn. They only care if it advances their project and their power and we should never assume that simply stating reality will move them.

the “at conception” wording is 100% wrong too. technically everyone is considered female at conception. stole this link from @ivalente who commented on a different post, it’s an interesting read.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK222286/

here’s the specific section:

All human individuals—whether they have an XX, an XY, or an atypical sex chromosome combination—begin development from the same starting point. During early development the gonads of the fetus remain undifferentiated; that is, all fetal genitalia are the same and are phenotypically female. After approximately 6 to 7 weeks of gestation, however, the expression of a gene on the Y chromosome induces changes that result in the development of the testes. Thus, this gene is singularly important in inducing testis development.

They are dumb, hateful, creeps.

Nobody belongs *at conception* to either gender. Regardless of X/Y chromosomes, what organs one develops is based on the hormone levels present in the uterine environment.

What a stupid definition !

This is all part of their sneaky efforts at making "fetal personhood" a part of legal language. Which is in & of itself extremely dangerous and harmful.

Yeah, I saw that. That man and his thugs are pigs.
